Welcome back to the College Diaries.
Questions To Ask Yourself Before Applying.
- Do you really need that diploma to conquer the world, or are you just collecting expensive paper? HMMMM???
- Are you college-bound because ‘that’s what everyone does,’ or is it a calculated move?
- How do your goals align with your chosen major? How do they align with the will of God? Have you asked your Pastor?
- When you look through your life, notice the people who always had good advice and direction. Get their thoughts on your education.
- Any extracurricular interests?
- Class sizes, my friend, it matters. Are you a cozy café chat person or a stadium concert person?
I’ll be a Junior in HS this upcoming semester. I’ve been planning for college since I was in eighth grade. I found out a few years ago that my college savings became none existent. I also realized that having a bunch of debt isn’t a great way to start life.

Since then, I use my summers to fill up my student resume. I properly organize the school semester before-hand so that I’m efficient during the year. Find my tutors, since I’m mostly online.
Get yourself a few side gigs to build the savings but keep the focus on education, not money. If I have incredible grades, extra credits, and I excel in my sport. I’ll get a scholarship somewhere better than just community college.
College Interviews
Starting the blog has helped A LOT with organization and presentations to college admissions. Find something that makes you stand out, make them remember you.
You don’t have to go to college for have a successful life. Some of the most achieved people I know didn’t go, or didn’t use their diploma for anything. Most of the time, colleges get you a 9-5 job you hate, it just pays for the milk.
That’s not the life I want.
I know some of these questions seem like…DUH. But, if I’m completely honest, the schools on my list were, for the most part, decided for the friends I know attending. The ones begging me to go with them. Only a couple I genuinely want to go to.
It’s hard leaving home and all of your best friends, I get it. Just remember you can always call and visit. You’re growing up now. You’re building the life you want.
Your friends should be pushing you towards your goals, not holding you back. It might be time to let them go, some friends are for a season of life. More on that in this post.
The Nice Schools like Sports!
I was four when mom put me in dance class. Commencing one’s dance education at such an age confers distinct advantages, schools take a second look because of it.
There is a harmonious symphony between one’s developing physique and the demands of the art form. Remember, schools like super geniuses and they like athletes. They want TALENT and HARD WORK if they’re going to hand over a scholarship.
Over time, this collaboration of age and sport yields improvements in the essentials you can’t learn in summer camps. Enhanced points, impeccable turnouts, graceful leaps etc.
Dedicated To Learning
Dedicate your life to learning-learn as much as you can as fast as you can. If there’s ever a better time to be spiritually grounded, it’s high school. Being a teenager is hard, every choice you make alters the rest of your life.
Discover your Creator and learn how to listen to that small voice inside of you. If I say one thing in this post, it would be, dedicate your life to hearing the Holy Spirit. It will save your life.
When everything else is screaming at you, you’ll be less likely to lose your head.
Conclusion
Work hard, play hard. When someone asks you what your plans are after graduation, it’s okay to say you don’t know. You have all of your life to figure it out.
Everything seems like such a big deal, but it’s not. Don’t pull all-nighters every night, you can’t get clear skin without sleep.
Take pictures with your friends. It doesn’t seem like it, but they’ll merely be Facebook friends in thirty years. I hate Facebook so they won’t even be that.
School Interviews don’t need to be intimidating, be YOURSELF. Stop copying others! Do what everyone is too scared to do.
Don’t you want to feel like you’ve lived at the end of your life?
College isn’t for everyone. Elon Musk dropped out after two days.
Thanks for reading. I’m so thankful for the friends we have here. People mock my online school and assume I don’t have any friends. They think they’re so cool with their 3,000 insta followers…psh. They have no idea?! I’ve learned that if people hate you, they usually just want to be you.
Unless you’re a jerk of course.
We’re friends right? 🙂
Happy 19th birthday.
