A Day In the Life of a Day Trader- Day #1,018-Struggles of a Day Trader Series- Update on the Trading Bot

Happy Thanksgiving! Even though my boyfriend’s trading bot continues to suck horribly, I’m full of gratitude and thankfulness this year for everything God has blessed and entrusted me with. Even though it seems this entire year we’ve struggled, worked tirelessly, and arrived nowhere.

I called my boyfriend yesterday as I do every morning on my commute to work. It had arrived, he heard a ding right when he woke up and knew it was what we’ve been waiting for. “Now what are you waiting for, open the chat and look!” He was so scared. We’re different in that way, I would be jumping out of bed right when I heard my phone ding and I’d be testing it that minuet. He was nervous though and just laid in bed on the phone with me. Not curious or excited, he just felt like it was going to be a bad day.

Turned out to be a bad day for the bot. The coder guy gave him back the new optimized version that apparently had a 75% win rate, BUT, he only backtested ten trades! Like dude, have you ever done this before!? Solomon wanted a minimum of 1,000 trades backtested and he had communicated that to them.

Our time zones are different so it’s hard to get on the chat with the guy. When it’s lunch time here, it’s 2:00 a.m there. Solomon spammed him with messages of concerns and questions. He backtested the bot for himself and It was worse than before. It took two weeks to make ten trades look good? Baloney.

The bot itself worked great, all we needed was profitability. After fixing the whole spread issue, or avoiding as much spread as possible would be a better way to say it, we lost our profits. That is why we needed professionals to optimize it for us. I was looking forward to Solomon getting a little break. 2 weeks off from working on the bot, BUT, he spent the entire time stressing out about it and thinking of ways to fix it and was never at rest. I don’t think he’ll ever get some R&R until the bot is running. His life work hangs in the balance.

I’ve come to terms and excepted that I’ll get my boyfriend back when this dadgum bot is done. That’s all I want for Christmas.

(Solomon got me a Ledger for our three year. Who else lost all of their Voyager holdings?) It’s fine. I’m FINE!
